Who we are

Established in 2016, East Coast Corals began as a side project while founder Chris was completing his thesis on coral morphology at the University of Sydney. What started as academic curiosity quickly became a practical exploration — testing, validating, and applying both the scientific literature and real-world observations of coral biology and reef chemistry.

During this early research phase, surplus corals were supplied back to the university and shared with the local reefing community, including hobbyists and retailers, helping fund ongoing experimentation. As we experimented and developed our range of trace elements, several community members reached out for our products to replicate the success we were having in-house. From there, East Coast Corals naturally grew into a retail brand.

There were many successes and *lessons* along the way, from widespread bleaching, to breakthrough moments where corals not only survived and matured, but reached reproductive (gravid) stages.

Today, everything we do is driven by science. All products are manufactured in-house using only the highest-grade ingredients and are designed specifically for true reef performance. Every product is rigorously tested across a wide range of coral and reef species at the East Coast Corals farm before reaching your system.
